Twas the night before chemo and all through the house, there was a lot of stirring and baking because the patient is taking steroids and has energy to spare (which if you know me means a LOT of energy!). I have been busy baking some low sugar high flax seed carrot/apple, blueberry and pumpkin muffins to take along to share and eat tomorrow and for storage. (I have been told that flax seed is good for fighting cancer.) I told Phil that I feel as though I am nesting, like right before a baby is due. There is this sudden urge to do all I can because I know after tomorrow life will more than likely be different for me.
The Chemo tote was packed by the front door with care…. with a warm blanket (thank you Rhonda Kaenan! :)), slippers (thanks to whoever bought them for me on Amazon), some magazines (thank you Suzan Braun for my JBU magazines!), my tea travel mug (thank you to the Pope family), a few other odds and ends for food and all, and of course the tote itself (thank you Roger and Cheryl Ellis – you probably didn’t think it would be used for this when you gave it to me!)
The patient hopes to be nestled all snug in her bed before too long….although with the steroids she could very well have sugar plums dancing in her head all night long. It looks to be an interesting night. I begin early tomorrow morning at 8:15 with a blood draw then on to the chemo lounge (as I call it).
And I heard Him declare even though He is out of visible sight, “You are my precious child, whom I love, and whom I will uphold and carry each step of the way”. He has given me a peace that passes understanding as I enter into this. I know it is a direct result of the prayers of so many of you. Thank you from the bottom of my heart! I will do my best to keep you posted on how things go.
Now I will close with a simple…. and to ALL a good night!
Elin. I have our prayer team all over this! You are covered with prayer! We love you and are there for you!

You are the BEST cook!
You made us a wrap one time when weāre out in the village visiting. It had tiziki sauce ( or however you spell it!) you made from scratch and was delicious. Now that I live in a big city there are Mediterranean restaurants all over. I love it! I always think of you when I eat Greek food. š
